[VCF] [PART 2] Edge Nodes Outside SDDC Manager – Unsupported by Broadcom

In my previous article, I explained how edge nodes can be redeployed in an active environment when they are deployed outside of SDDC Manager. In my case, each edge node has two BGP links.

However, when deploying edge nodes outside of SDDC Manager, it is not possible to configure two BGP links per edge node through SDDC Manager itself. The only way to achieve this configuration is by manually adding the BGP links directly in NSX.

Note: SDDC Manager will automatically discover these two BGP links because it communicates with NSX through API calls (and NSX likewise reports back to SDDC Manager).

The first support email discussed the redeployment of edge nodes, while the second email focused on the two BGP sessions per edge node design.
